Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has been in fine form in the last few weeks and he was in the squad that was chosen to face Fulham this weekend but he however had to be subbed off due to an injury he sustained in the second half. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has commented on the injury of the Frenchman and it definitely isn’t good news.
Alexandre Lacazette was very instrumental for Arsenal in the last few weeks since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lost his form and the Frenchman recently helped the North Londoners to get into the UEFA Europa League semi finals by scoring twice in the second leg game against Slavia Prague on Thursday. Mikel Arteta was hoping for a similar performance when he put him in the squad to face Fulham but the 29 year old did not finish the game which they ended 1-1.
Alexandre Lacazette went down in the second half and his substitution affected the gunners throughout the rest of the game as they failed to finish their chances until the last minute. Arteta faced the media after the game and delivered the bad news, confirming it’s a hamstring problem.
“Lacazette has done his hamstring, it’s not good news. We’ll have to see [how long he will be out for]. We’ll have the scan, probably on Tuesday, to see the extent of the injury and the timeline for it. But I don’t know.” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal Media.
“I cannot tell if it’s going to be a week, two weeks, five weeks or six weeks. He felt something in his hamstring and we don’t know the extent of it. We are all disappointed because we all know the moment that Laca was on.”
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be unhappy with possibility of not having Lacazette for weeks as he just said a few days back that the striker is a player who glues the team together.
