Injury updates ahead of Manchester United clash

The latest injury updates ahead of the weekend match.

Arsenal at the moment have seven injured players. However, the good news is all the injured players are expected to return within the next two weeks.

Here are the players currently injured and their possible return dates:

Pablo Mari

Mari is currently out with calf injury but he should resume training with the squad in the next few days.

Possible return date: 2 February

Dani Ceballos

Similar injury like Mari’s, during Arteta’s conference yesterday he said he should be back in training soon.

Possible return date: 2 February

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Auba isn’t injured but he has been looking after his Mother who has been ill. So he has missed the last two matches because of this and will likely miss the Manchester United game which he might not be ready for psychologically.

“Yes, he’s our captain and one of the most important players,” Arteta said. “We are doing everything we can to have him as quickly as possible.”

“But understanding that he’s been through difficult days that he had to support his family. We were here to support him as well with the time that he needed to get that sorted.”

Kieran Tierney

Tierney has been training after recovering from discomfort in his right lower leg. He will have to take a late fitness test for tomorrows game.

Possible return date: 30 January

Thomas Partey

Partey was subbed off during the win at Southampton but it wasn’t a serious injury and he participated in training. He has a good chance of playing tomorrow.

Possible return date: 30 January

Emile Smith-Rowe

Just like Partey he had a discomfort during the last game and was taken off as a precaution. He also participated in training and has a chance of playing against Man United.

Possible return date: 30 January

Martin Odegaard

New signing Martin Odegaard also trained alongside his team-mates and could be named in the squad if he passes a late fitness test.

“He hasn’t played that many minutes in Madrid but he’s been training hard and he looks so excited, as we are, to have another big talent at our club,” said Arteta when asked about the Norwegian’s qualities.
