Arsenal have in the last three days been heavily linked with a move for highly rated Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard and it looks like the gunners have won the race for his signature as per reports from Spain. Mikel Arteta was asked about the deal of Martin Odegaard to Arsenal after their game against Southampton and he revealed when he would have some information.
Martin Odegaard is a very highly rated young attacking midfielder in Spain but things haven’t been good for him this season as its reported that he is frustrated that the Real Madrid boss Zidane is not giving him enough chances hence pushing for an exit even though it’s likely to be just a loan move for the rest of the season. Arsenal showed their interest a few days ago but it looks like they made a legitimate move as articles saying his move to Arsenal was close popped up from various sources on Friday.
The gunners have so far only signed one player in this January transfer window and it was Mat Ryan, a goalkeeper and the fans are still waiting for other incomings since their clear out seems complete. Mikel Arteta was asked about the Odegaard deal but claimed that he had no update for now as he needed to first make calls now that their FA Cup game was over to know the current situation. The Arsenal fans are happy with his response as he didn’t dismiss the rumours.
“I don’t know. Obviously we played today, so since last night I don’t have any news. Probably, I will get a few phone calls today and see where we are with every deal.” said Mikel Arteta while speaking to the media.
