How Arteta’s Arsenal will lineup if Partey and Aouar don’t get signed

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Partey and Aouar but we however take a look at how Arteta could set up his team if they fail to complete the deals.

Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar are understood to be Arsenal’s main summer transfer targets and the fans have already begun theorizing as to how their side might lineup if both of them were indeed signed, but what if Arsenal failed to provide any new signing for Mikel Arteta? We take a look at how the gunners could lineup this season and still compete well in the Premier League without the signings of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar.

PREDICTED ARSENAL LINEUP WITHOUT PARTEY AND AOUAR

TEXT FORM: Leno, Tierney, Gabriel, Luiz, Bellerin, Saka, Xhaka, Ceballos, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe

FORMATION: 4-3-3

GOALKEEPING:

Emiliano Martinez has been impressive for Arsenal in the last few months but he could be on his way out as per reports and so Bernd Leno could reclaim his spot as the first choice goalkeeper.

DEFENCE:

It is believed that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta will move to a 4-3-3 formation this season and that it is one of the reasons why he wants Partey and Aouar. This formation sees Arsenal use a back four and Arteta could use new signing and left footed Gabriel and Luiz as the centre backs since they are both good on the ball while Bellerin and Tierney play as the fullbacks in the team.

MIDFIELD THREE:

This is the key area that has seen Arsenal try to pursue Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar as Arteta will want a good defensive minded midfielder like the Ghanaian international and the Lyon attacking midfielder so that his midfield becomes balanced. Arteta could however improvise with what he already has by including Saka in the three man midfield so that he could play together with Xhaka and Ceballos in the middle. Arteta did even try this last season.

FRONT THREE:

The usage of the 4-3-3 formation would see Arsenal use a front three and so Aubameyang and Pepe could play on the flanks while Lacazette leads the line as they did in some matches last season.

  • Who devised this team?

if we play with Leno in goal, and with a 4 at the back format, which includes David Luiz, I fear we will not even qualify for the Europa League this season!!!

What is more, Pepe and Lacazette do not score enough goals, so pray Martinelli gets well soon and he plays with Saka on the wing.
