Arsenal announced Willian their first signing of the 2020 summer transfer window on Friday after many weeks of speculations linking him with a move to the Emirates. This was a long awaited announcement as the fans thought that the club would work quickly after the FA Cup victory but it has however taken its time.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was very happy that the club completed the deal of Willian as per the comments he made after the announcement but we all do know that the transfer window doesn’t end there for the gunners because they still have a lot of holes that will need to be addressed before the closure of the summer transfer window.
A report by The Guardian has given an inside look into Mikel Arteta’s new transfer plans after the completion of the deal of Willian, the English paper claims that Arsenal will now want to complete the contract renewal of their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they will want this topic closed before the start of next season and the Spanish coach will try to bring in three more players that play as a defender, a central midfielder and another forward.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta still wanting a new defender and central midfielder doesn’t come as a big surprise as its well known that they will need atleast a new centre back to improve their squad and they have also been linked with Thomas Partey who is a, central midfielder but what’s surprising is that he still wants another forward even with the signing of Willian. There has been rumours saying that Arsenal’s boss Arteta might decide to play Willian as an attacking midfielder hence the gunners still being on the lookout for a new forward/winger.
