Mesut Ozil sends a strong message to Mikel Arteta over not playing him in Arsenal games

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has not used Mesut Ozil since February and the German international has sent him a strong message ahead of the upcoming new season

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has not played for the club since February since Mikel Arteta decided to never give him another chance on the pitch after the Premier League restarted post COVID-19 and he even missed the winning of the FA Cup. Mesut Ozil has however come out and sent a message to Mikel Arteta ahead of the upcoming season.

Mesut Ozil started in Mikel Arteta’s first 10 Premier League games and everyone thought that the sacking of Unai Emery would put an end to all the troubles that the German international was having as it was believed that the Spanish boss (Emery) simply didn’t like the 31 year old but the new Arsenal manager has ended up doing the same hence the confusion from the supporters.

Arsenal head coach hasn’t been too open in explaining why he doesn’t put Mesut Ozil in the matchday squads but most rumours say that he believes that the German international doesn’t show much commitment in training and that his attitude is bad. Mesut Ozil has however come out and sent a message to Arteta saying that Arteta already knows his quality and that he will work very hard in training to be ready when he will be needed, the World Cup winning midfielder also says that he had many options in 2018 but chose to stay at Arsenal as he loves it here.

“In 2018, I had plenty of options that would have earned me far more money as a free agent, but I committed myself to Arsenal because this was the club and the fanbase I wanted to play for. In that sense, nothing has changed.” Mesut Ozil told The Athletic in an exclusive interview.

“Mikel knows my quality and I will be ready when he needs me. I’m not going into pre-season thinking, ‘Final year, I can chill — I know I don’t play’.”

“These are not easy times for Arsenal and I want to help. I still have a lot to offer and I train as hard as I can, whether I’m in the squad or not. If you’re called in, you have to be prepared.”
