Report: Barcelona make new proposal to get Guendouzi while Arsenal get Coutinho

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is being pursued by Barcelona and the Spanish club has proposed a new deal that could include Coutinho.

Matteo Guendouzi has not featured for Arsenal since the Brighton & Hove Albion game and most reports have claimed that the gunners will now have to sell him in this upcoming summer transfer window. Barcelona have shown interest in the French international and have now told the gunners their interesting proposal that involves Philippe Coutinho.

Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona a few years back but he has turned out to be a bad signing for them as he has failed to justify his £140million fee and was even loaned to Bayern Munich this season but still didn’t get good stats there as well. Barcelona are now reportedly trying to wipe him off their wage bill and have proposed a swap deal with Guendouzi as per the latest reports.

French based source Foot Mercato is reporting that Barcelona have proposed a swap deal that would see Philippe Coutinho join Arsenal while Matteo Guendouzi goes the other side with the gunners also paying an additional €50million as the Brazilian international has more value than the Arsenal Frenchman. The report confirms that Arsenal are not happy with this proposal for obvious reasons as they wouldn’t want to pay such a big amount for Coutinho when there’s a big risk that he might not recover his Premier League form.

The French outlet also mentions that Barcelona have also tried a swap deal of the duo of Rakitic-Arturo to acquire the services of Matteo Guendouzi but that has also been rejected by the gunners as these two players are very old and wouldn’t have any resale value. They say that both Arsenal and Barcelona will have more negotiations in the future about the future of Matteo Guendouzi but one thing for sure seems to be that the young Frenchman will leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
