Report: Atletico Madrid responds to Arsenal’s first bid for Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey has been the most linked player with a move to Arsenal and its now being reported that the gunners have made their interest official as they have already received an answer from Atletico Madrid on their offer.

Arsenal have in the last few months been linked with a move for Thomas Partey and since the Premier League summer transfer window opened today, we’ve started getting more information about this transfer saga as reliable sources have confirmed that the gunners did submit an offer to Atletico Madrid and that they’ve replied.

Thomas Partey was impressive in the Spanish LA Liga and was arguably one of the best players in Atletico Madrid’s two biggest games of the season which were when they defeated Liverpool home and away in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Partey is believed to be interested in a move to Arsenal and the only big problem has always been if the North Londoners will be able to afford his release clause of €50million.

Reliable Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal submitted an offer of €25million plus a player to Atletico Madrid to get Thomas Partey and that the Spanish club has responded to this bid rejecting it because they don’t want let go of the Ghanaian international for less than his release clause of €50million. The report also further mentions that Arsenal have been open to Atletico Madrid and told them that they will not be able to afford to activate his €50million release clause and so there’s no agreement between the two clubs at the moment.

It will now be interesting to see if Arsenal will now go and search for other targets or try to submit a new offer even though Atletico Madrid have refused to accept a deal that includes a player who is as per most reports believed to be Matteo Guendouzi. Partey has not yet opened up about his future since these transfer rumours linking him to Arsenal begun but his dad did say that his son would come to the Emirates Stadium in this summer transfer window.
