Report: Arsenal make progress in their plans to bring Philippe Coutinho back to the Premier League

Phillipe Coutinho was one of the best players in the Premier League before he went to Barcelona and Arsenal are reportedly close to getting him.

Arsenal will be looking to bring in a new attacking midfielder in this transfer window as one of their problems in the 2019/20 season has been the lack of goals from their central midfielders. Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks and the gunners have made progress in their pursuit of the Brazilian international.

Philippe Coutinho was loaned to Bayern Munich last season but he did not impress in the German Bundesliga and so the Munich club decided to not permanently sign him hence him having to return to Barcelona but the Catalan club will still want to move him out as he has failed to blend in well in their squad despite having cost them €160million.

Coutinho was one of the best players in the Premier League and so the gunners are hopeful that he will recover his form if he joins them. Mundo Deportivo is now reporting that Arsenal have made progress in their pursuit of Phillipe Coutinho as they are are now the best well placed club to sign the Brazilian international in this summer transfer window.

The report claims that Arsenal are ahead of many clubs in the race to get Coutinho’s signature because his agent Kia Joorabchian has been working for months on how to bring him back to the Premier League and that the relationship of the agent and, Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi may prove to be very decisive in bringing the 28 year old to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

The gunners will of course hope that they can get Philippe Coutinho on a loan deal because they will not be able to pay a full amount to sign him since he is overpriced by Barcelona and the above Spanish source says that the negotiations between the clubs continue and so it will be interesting to see if a deal does end up happening.
