Arsenal welcomed Watford at the Emirates Stadium today for their last Premier League match of the season and they won the game 3-2 thanks to three goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kieran Tierney. Mikel Arteta has spoken out on their performance and also provided an update on the injury of Shkodran Mustafi.
Arsenal came into this match with nothing to lose but with hope of ending the Premier League campaign with a win over relegation threatened Watford and they were the first to go infront thanks to a penalty goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after a challenge on Lacazette in the penalty box.
Watford immediately tried to get back into the game but wasted most of their chances and Mikel Arteta’s men then punished them when Aubameyang controlled a cross from Pepe and then passed it back to Tierney whose shot went into the back of the net with the help of a deflection. Aubameyang got his second of the day in an incredible way as he managed to control a throw ball from Tierney and then volleyed the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0. Watford got one goal back before the end of the first half.
Watford got many more chances in the second half but only Danny Welbeck was able to put the ball in the net to make it 3-2. Mikel Arteta was asked about the match after it ended and he compared it to a basketball game.
“It was a crazy game right from the start. The moment we went one or two up their front players were a bit cheating. We allowed too many balls in the box. It was a bit like a basketball game at time.” Mikel Arteta told Football.London.

Arsenal centre back Shkodran Mustafi got injured in the FA Cup game against Manchester City and Mikel Arteta has today revealed bad news, saying that the German international will be out for long and that he might not even be available for the start of the 2020/21 season.
“He will miss the start of next season. He pulled the tendon of the bone in his hamstring. That’s normally a lot of weeks.” said Mikel Arteta.
