Report: New latest development in the Thomas Partey to Arsenal story

Arsenal have in the last few months been heavily linked with a move for Thomas Partey and there seems to have been a new development on this story.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey in the last two months and it seems like this will be going on until the transfer window ends as the North Londoners are well known for being slow in negotiations of trying to bring players at the Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Partey has been impressive for Atletico Madrid this season as he has been one of their best players and he was also heavily applauded for his two performances against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League round of 16. Partey has been linked with a move to many top European clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain but the gunners have seemed to be the most persistent at getting him since Mikel Arteta has made him his main summer transfer target.

A report by Spanish outlet Libertad Digital has provided the latest development in this Thomas Partey transfer saga as it has claimed that Arsenal will be more than happy to activate the €50million release clause but they however say that the Ghanaian international is considering extending his contract with his current club since he has been with them in almost his full senior career. Partey signing a new deal with Atletico Madrid would be a huge blow for Arsenal as he is someone who they need to try to go back to competing with the best clubs in the Premier League.

The above report says that even though Partey wants to extend his stay at Atletico Madrid but he is however not yet put pen to paper to a new deal while the offer is on the table and so Arsenal fans will atleast be happy that he hasn’t decided hence giving them a chance of getting him when the summer transfer window officially opens as it’s all just rumours for now. One of the main reasons why Arsenal fans are confident that their interest is genuine is because his dad said that Partey told him that he will be coming to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
