Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken out on why the gunners lost their friendly game against Brentford on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal welcomed Championship side Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday to continue their preparation for the restart of the Premier League and everyone was surprised to see that the gunners lost 2-3. Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken out on what led to them losing this friendly game.
Arsenal’s first game since the Premier League got suspended will be against Manchester City and the gunners decided to host two friendly games to regain match fitness since the players have not been playing for two months due to the spread of the Coronavirus. The gunners won the first friendly game against Charlton Athletic 6-0 but they however lost 3-2 against Brentford.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has spoken out on the loss against Brentford and he has explained that they had to try to give chances to all the players and also mentioned that they’ve begun trying to adapt to playing in an empty Emirates Stadium without the home support.
“We’re trying different things. We’re trying to give minutes in their legs to all of the players, obviously you have to change a lot of players through the games.” Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports.
“Getting adapted to playing in an empty stadium as well, not having that energy from the fans. It was good, we played two friendlies, we’re getting a bit of rhythm, we haven’t played for a while, we tried to make is as close as possible to a real game.”
Arsenal fans will hope that they see a better performance from the players on Wednesday when they face Manchester City than what they saw in the friendly game against Brentford because most of the goals that they conceded were embarrassing as they were all caused by their mistakes.
