Mikel Arteta sends a big warning to the Arsenal board over transfers

Arsenal has spent four years now without playing in the UEFA Champions League and the club has as a result financially suffered and Mikel Arteta who got appointed as the head coach in December has sent a big warning to the board about the way they handle transfers.

Arsenal have been linked with many players in the last few months but there has however been no indication that they will indeed sign some of those players that are linked with them and they have also been unable to renew the contracts of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka who are two key players that have been impressive this season.

Arsenal’s rivals such as Chelsea have on the other hand managed to fully complete the signing of top players such as Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner hence many starting to ask questions on what the North Londoners will do to close the gap. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has sent a big warning to the board of the gunners saying that the gap will only get bigger and that he hasn’t come here to accept that.

“We are trying to put a plan together to improve what we have. We haven’t been able to achieve the goals we have wanted in the last three years and there is a reason behind it.” Mikel Arteta told Goal.com.

“If we stand still that gap will become bigger and bigger. I haven’t come here to accept that.”

“The challenge for us is to improve the players we already have and find ways to improve the squad in the right positions to give us the best possible chance to compete at that level. It’s getting higher and higher every year.”

It will be interesting to see if the Arsenal board will back Mikel Arteta in the upcoming summer transfer window as its pretty clear that he has publicly sent a message to them.
