Arsenal have been heavily linked with Thomas Partey and new reports are now claiming that the player has told his club of his desire to join the gunners.

Arsenal have in the last few weeks been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey and new reports are now claiming that the player has told his club that he would like to move to North London in this upcoming summer transfer window.

Thomas Partey has been impressive in the Spanish LA Liga and the UEFA Champions League this season and this has seen him attract a number of suitors since he has proved to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Arsenal have for years been crying out for a solid defensive midfielder and so it’s no surprise that the club would like to sign Thomas Partey in the summer transfer window.

A report by The Telegraph confirms that Thomas Partey has told Atletico Madrid that he would like to join Arsenal and that he would like for the two clubs to reach an agreement with each other. They say that Mikel Arteta has made finding a new defensive midfielder his main priority in this upcoming transfer window and that the gunners have identified Thomas Partey as the perfect man for the job but they will however have to find a to pay his release clause of £45million.

The report also mentions that the gunners will not be spending a lot of money in the summer since they have financial issues as they have even had their players agree to a 12.5% annual salary reduction but they however say that Atletico Madrid are also interested in Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and so a swap deal is not unimaginable. It is also claimed that Partey has told the people close to him that he feels that it is time fot him to go and prove himself in the Premier League.

This comes a week after Partey’s father came out and outright said that he had been told by his son that he would be joining Arsenal when the transfer window opens.
