Lucas Torreira’s representatives give new surprising info about the future of the Uruguayan international

Lucas Torreira will soon have been at Arsenal for two years but he has however never truly settled and his representative have made some surprising comments about his future.

Arsenal signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria for a fee believed to be around £26million in 2018 and everyone was excited to see how he performs in the Premier League, and the Uruguayan international delivered as he was one of the best players of the North Londoners in the 2018/19 campaign. Torreira’s agent has however made some surprising comments.

Torreira was very impressive in the first half of last season as the Arsenal fans thought that they had finally signed the perfect replacement for Patrick Vieira but his form started falling at the start of 2018 as he looked to be burned out due to the English game having many games with no winter break. Torreira has however this season been very inconsistent and most of the blame is usually attributed to Emery for trying to change his role at the club.

Torreira has been usually linked with a move back to Italy throughout this season, mostly in Emery’s time and his representative Pablo Bentancur has also now come out and said that the 24-year-old would indeed love to go back to Italy.

“Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered.” Pablo Bentancur told TMW when asked about Torreira’s situation.

“And the injury arrived, fortunately less serious than expected. Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man.”

“I will have to speak to Arsenal. The player would love to return to Italy but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

It will be interesting to see what decision that Arsenal makes because the comments by the agent are very clear as he confirms that Lucas Torreira wants a return to Italy and even though Mikel Arteta used him in his first games, he however then later preferred Dani Ceballos over the Uruguayan international and his chances of returning to the starting eleven ended when he got injured in the FA Cup game against Portsmouth.
