Arsenal receive a new boost in their pursuit of Thomas Partey

Arsenal will be looking to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window and it seems like they have received a boost in their pursuit of Thomas Partey.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey since last year’s summer transfer window and the arrival of Mikel Arteta has brought back the rumours as its believed that the Spaniard wants a new defensive midfielder in his side. New reports from Ghana are claiming that Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Partey.

Partey has this season been consistent in his performances for Atletico Madrid and has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world as he has been crucial in the run that the Madrid club is having in the UEFA Champions League which included beating Liverpool twice which is an incredible feat since The Reds have been fantastic in this 2019/20 campaign.

An exclusive report by Footballghana has revealed that Thomas Partey wants a move to Arsenal in this upcoming summer transfer window and that he will not be considering other clubs such as Manchester United who are also interested and that he would have to stay at Atletico Madrid if his desired move to the Emirates Stadium doesn’t work out. The report claims that he won’t be leaving for any team other than Arsenal this year and that he would wait until 2021 to reconsider his options.

The Ghanaian outlet also says that Partey wants to come to the Premier League because he feels he could try to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Michael Essien who went to Chelsea and had success in England. The Arsenal fans will be hoping that their interest in Partey turns out to be true since he is a player that would certainly improve their squad because they have lacked someone like him in their midfield this season.

This comes after Thomas Partey’s father claimed that his son would be coming to Arsenal in the summer transfer window and that all that was left was for the North Londoners to have a way to pay his son’s €50million release clause.
