Aubameyang will reportedly leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window and gunners boss Mikel Arteta will have to choose new captain from possibly these three players.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got appointed as Arsenal’s new captain after Granit Xhaka had a bust up with the fans in the home game against Crystal Palace a few months back. There has however been many reports that Aubameyang could leave Arsenal in the summer and if he does leave then Mikel Arteta would have to choose a new captain.
Former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery used to use a system of having atleast five captains in the squad but Mikel Arteta could however scrap that system at the start of next aseason. So we today take a look at players that Arteta could appoint as the new captain if Aubameyang waves goodbye to the gooners in the summer transfer window.
1. HECTOR BELLERIN

Hector Bellerin is the most likely candidate to be chosen as the Arsenal captain because he is said to be an important member of the dressing room of the North Londoners and he is already leading the players in many initiatives off the pitch. Bellerin is the second in line on the list of captains that Unai Emery chose at the beginning of the season and if Arteta decides not to make a new one then the Spanish right back will be given the armband.
Bellerin has already shown his leadership skills as its reported that him and Mikel Arteta were the two people who managed to convince the rest of the squad to agree to the 12.5 pay cuts.
2. GRANIT XHAKA
Granit Xhaka was chosen as the Arsenal captain in the first months of this season but his bust up with the fans in the game against Crystal Palace in November saw him lose the captain’s armband as Unai Emery stripped him due to fan pressure. Everyone thought that would be Xhaka’s last game as an Arsenal player and most reports said that he would be sold in the January transfer window but then Mikel Arteta’s arrival changed everything.

First things first, Arteta managed to convince Granit Xhaka to stay and the Swiss international has now gone back into the good books of the Arsenal fans and since he is still one of the best leaders in the squad then there’s a possibility that the new boss might give him back the captain’s armband.
3. DAVID LUIZ
Arsenal completed the signing of David Luiz from Chelsea and he had an awful start to life as gunner by giving away penalties but he has however settled in the last few months under Mikel Arteta. Luiz’s performances have massively improved and he has been one of Arsenal’s leaders in this period.

David Luiz has been one of the regulars in Arteta’s starting eleven and the gunners boss has openly spoke out on how the centre back is a great leader that he has opened up to him about also having thoughts of wanting to become a coach. There’s a lot of possibility that Arteta might make him captain next season since he has a good leader that every manager wants to have in the dressing room.
