David Luiz reveals how Mikel Arteta is coaching the players in the comfort of their homes

The COVID-19 pandemic has put an abrupt stop to all football leagues including the Premier League and all players of clubs are at their homes waiting for when they’ll be cleared to start training or playing again. Arsenal defender David Luiz has opened up about how Mikel Arteta is extensively coaching them from the comfort of their homes.

Arsenal signed David Luiz from their London rivals Chelsea in the 2019 summer transfer window and he had a poor start to life as a gunner as he gave away some penalties but he has however been impressive in the last few months under Mikel Arteta and is now a fan favourite in the fanbase of the North Londoners. The gunners were on a bit of a good run of form until Mikel Arteta testing positive saw the Arsenal players be sent home to self isolate before all other Premier League players.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has fully recovered from the virus and Luiz has revealed how he has been receiving calls from the coach, and that they’ve been given assignments as like when they were in school.

“We have been given assignments just like in school and at university. I spent an hour and a half on a video call with Arteta, analysing games and training sessions from this season.” David Luiz told ESPN Brasil.

“Tell me about this game without watching it, David,’ he would say. Afterwards we would watch and see we were tying to do something good, but couldn’t execute it — or we thought it was bad, but in this case good. This discussion is good and will help us a lot in the future.”

Mikel Arteta is said to be a very strict coach and so it is not surprising that he is talking with the players one by one, and as well as giving them assignments so that they don’t get too relaxed since no football is currently being played. There is no specified date for return of football but most rumours claim that the Premier League could kick off in either May or June.
