Arsenal face new big hindrance in their pursuit of Dayot Upamecano

The gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Dayot Upamecano in the last 12 months but they however now face a new hindrance in their pursuit of the player.

Arsenal have been interested In Dayot Upamecano since last summer and since they failed to sign the French defender last season, some reports claim that they will be hoping to finally secure this deal in the summer transfer window since its been evident that they need someone like him in their defence. The gunners have however received a new hindrance in their pursuit of the RB Leipzig defender according to reports.

RB Leipzig have surprised everyone this season as they have been in the German Bundesliga title race and are already through to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals and Dayot Upamecano has been incredible in most of their matches hence many clubs starting to show interest in him. Arsenal have wanted him for a long time but a report by Spanish outlet AS says that Real Madrid are now also in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano after their boss Zinedine Zidane said that he is a player that he would like in his squad next season.

Real Madrid’s interest will be a big hindrance to the gunners because the Spanish giants are a very big club that most players dream of playing for and so Arsenal will now have the extra work of trying to convince Upamecano that it would be better for him to join their project than Zidane’s side. Arsenal have always had success in pursuing of French players because Arsene Wenger is an absolute legend in France and due to their successful sides having many players from there but Real Madrid also have Zinedine Zidane and he is also a big pulling power.

Upamecano’s current contract at RB Leipzig will expire in 2021 and so his price will be reducing in June as he will have just one more year on his deal and his club’s director recently warned him about waiting for more time before making a decision that will affect his future. Real Madrid might not offer Upamecano minutes for now since they’ve two very capable defenders but he would go straight into Arsenal’s starting eleven and so it will be interesting to see what decision that he makes.
