Arsenal beat Rennes 3-0 last night and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace to send the North Londoners to the UEFA Europa quarter finals. Arsenal head coach Unai Emery came into this match hoping to overturn the 2 goals deficit because they lost 3-1 in the first leg that was played in France.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring for Arsenal in the fifth minute of the match after a quick move from the gunners saw the Gabon international receive a great pass from Ramsey in the penalty box, and the striker put the ball into the back of the net. Aubameyang scored for Arsenal its third goal in the second half and he put on the Black Panther mask to celebrate scoring the winning goal.
Aubameyang received a yellow card for celebrating with a mask and Arsenal’s head coach Unai Emery was asked about what he has to say about the player getting booked for celebrating that way.
“I don’t have an opinion about that. For me the most important is his performance today, giving us the goals, with the assist, and that’s the best thing for me.” Aubameyang told Arsenal’s official website.
It seems the Arsenal boss did not want to reveal his exact opinion of this matter to the media but he could be disappointed since another yellow card for Aubameyang would have seen them get reduced to 10 players in the last 10 minutes which were pretty nervy for the North Londoners.
The Arsenal fans were so happy to see Aubameyang put on the mask because they have for long been waiting for him to do it for the first time in, Arsenal colours and it came in an important match so the fans feel satisfied.
