Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil signed a new deal this year to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium and his decision to renew his contract surprised most people who thought that the German international would leave the North Londoners to go to another team like Bayern Munich who were interested in him.
During the time Mesut Ozil was about to sign the new deal, there were various reports which claimed that some clubs in Europe and Asia had tried convincing him to sign for them because his current contract at Arsenal was about to end, Alexis Sanchez was also linked with a move away from the Emirates and the Chilean international ended up leaving for Manchester United while Ozil decided to stay at the North London club.
Mesut Ozil is now earning 350k a week wages but the Evening Standard claims that the German international received some offers from Asia which would have seen him earn £1million a week wages. Ozil’s agent Erkut Sogut has revealed how his client loves Arsenal that he had turn down some great deals.
“We had some really big offers from Asia, there were some crazy offers. But for Mesut, money was by no means the biggest factor.” His agent told Evening Standard.
“We were free to sign with other clubs and in the end Mesut loves the club. I put everything to him and he just said, ‘This is my home, I want to be here’.”
The gunners have however got a new manager after Arsene Wenger who is reported to have adviced Mesut Ozil to stay is now gone but the Arsenal fans are eager to see the German international impress for Unai Emery.
