Arsenal new signing Lucas Torreira has revealed that he received a phone call from Unai Emery when he was about to go for the World Cup.
Lucas Torreira at the Emirates Stadium
Lucas Torreira arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer transfer window and he is considered to be Arsenal’s best signing in the recently closed transfer window since he was even the one that cost the North Londoners a lot of money.
Lucas Torreira has not been in Arsenal’s starting eleven this season but his appearances for the gunners as a substitute have made him become a fan favourite at the club because he always brings pure class stability in the midfield of Arsenal when he is on the pitch.
Arsenal’s media team today released a video on their official Twitter account which shows Lucas Torreira explaining how he joined the gunners and how he feels about being a gunner, after spending just two months at the Emirates Stadium. Watch the video below.
Lucas Torreira says;
“When I was preparing to go to the World Cup with my country, with Uruguay, I received a call from the boss.”
“I had already had a talk with my agent who told me about the idea of Arsenal and I was very happy because when I was in Italy, I never imagined being able to come to the Premier League.”
The Arsenal fans have been disappointed with Unai Emery for not giving Lucas Torreira a spot in the starting eleven this season even though he has proved to be an extraordinary player when he is brought into the match as a substitute but the Spanish manager has continually said that the Uruguayan international is not ready to start matches.
We will however probably see Lucas Torreira start for Arsenal for the first time this season when the gunners kick-start their Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns this month, and everyone will be hoping that he proves a point to Unai Emery in those matches so that he could finally get chosen in the starting eleven in a Premier League match.
